Grand opening on October 29
On October 22, 2011 donors, sponsors and representatives of government attended a special gala preview night at TELUS Spark - The New Science Centre, Calgary's newest attraction. As of that date, the facility switched from being known as the "TELUS World of Science" to "TELUS Spark," to reflect the larger facility's new and wider mandate to be a centre of inspiration, explo-
ration and innovation for Calgary.
Four years in the planning and construction, $160MM equally from city, province, federal and private funds, it's the first purpose built science centre in Canada in over 25 years.
The grand opening happens on October 29th, with a spectacle that will surprise, delight and amaze. Featuring over 100 new exhibits, TELUS Spark has something for everyone. It presents endless opportunities to explore the world and the body you live in, to delve deeper into life’s most exciting mysteries, to immerse yourself in the thrilling overlap between science, art and techno-
logy, to energize your mind and get explosively inspired.
