For the purpose of illustrating the new dual-mode hybrid system, a new interactive model of a Daimler chassis was fabricated. Cutaway models of original components were made, processed and supplemented by true-to-scale, modelled components and a stylized V-engine. Among other things, the hybrid propulsion system, the DC/DC converter, the power electronics system and the battery are represented as cutaways. In the case of the transmission, the cuts were made in such a way that they reveal the view of both electric drives and the planetary gear sets. The cutaway model of the battery shows its cell structure with the inter-cell links.
