In September 2011, Hüttinger was awarded the contract for the development, design and build of the interactive elements for MD 2.0, the modernized Madurodam Miniature Park.
During the 6-month refurbishment in the run-up to the 60th anniversary of the park, the exhibition concept received a more modern and interactive design in order to meet the demands of new generations of visitors. As a result, visitors are now able to interact with several Dutch monuments hands-on. It is also possible to protect, for instance, a village near Oosterschelde from flooding or to load and unload ships in the Port of Rotterdam.
The Park now includes the theme areas Water as a Friend and an Enemy, Old City Centresand The Netherlands as a Source of Inspiration for the World. On 21st April 2012, Madurodam was officially reopened in the presence of Queen Beatrix I. of the Netherlands.
