For autonomous driving, the requirements for the steering system are changing. With Schaeffler's steer-by-wire system Space Drive, a key technology for the digital transmission of steering commands is offered. In the field of mechatronic systems, Schaeffler is showcasing for the first time a Hand Wheel Actuator (HWA) with force feedback module as well as the mechatronic rear axle steering system (iRWS) for more safety and comfort while driving. The Hand Wheel Actuator simulator premiered at IAA Mobility 2021 in Munich.
