In January 2009, Hüttinger together with Art+Com was awarded the contract to develop and fabricate the sculpture Virtual Water to be installed into the Level Green - The idea of sustainability gallery within the VW Autostadt. Virtual Water, a sculptural fountain, shows the problem of water scarcity and distribution in a global perspective in an abstract way. Virtual Water refers to the water that was needed for the manufacture of goods. If for example a product is imported from South America to Europe, virtual water specifies, how much water was needed in the country of its origin.
