In a world-wide tender Engineering Contracting Co. along with their partner, Hüttinger won the fabrication contract for the Children‘s City of Dubai. The fabrication of 3,300 sq.m. exhibition with over 200 exhibits was completed within 15 months. Layout, design and educational content were specailly adapted for children aged 5 to 15, ranging from simple mechanical interactives to computer presentations. Involvment can be as simple as playing with water and getting wet, with other exhibits require teamwork of up to 5 children to operate a „factory“ or a „grain pit“. In order to attract the demanding children of Dubai, exhibits have to be attractive, provide competition and use more than one sense. One of the most important issues during the fabrication process was to ensure durability and easy maintenance of electrical and mechanical components as staff and local facilities for running a new form of institution have to be established.
