Forest House

In 2004, in the course of a competition, Hüttinger was awarded the contract for the conceptual design, planning, fabrication and assembly of the exhibition.
With the Waldhaus, an unrivalled experience for tourists was created which distinctly Stands out from other „forest museums“. For tourists, students, pupils, and other groups interested a platfom is providedwhich contributes informaion and entertainment. The dominating element of the exhibition is a row of six room-size trees in the centre of the room. Information about these trees and about types of rock native in the Fichtel Hills can be called up on two slide screens. Around the trees, in the exhibition „the topic Forest“ is dealt with on the basis of the main subjects: Forest utilization, Habitats, Ecology of the forest and Wood utilization. Thus, the visitors can feel, smell and hearthe forest underthe main subject Habitats. A video microscope and a magnifying glass, with which it is possible to watch small soil organisms, can be found underthe main subject Ecology. Other elements are a scratch film projector, with the help of which the visitors see, for example, mushrooms growing in rapid time or in slow motion, a diorama, which shows the habitat of an adder in the Fichtel Hills, information boards and a terminal for deepening one's knowledge.
