In June 2003 we were awarded the contract to devise the conceptional design and fabrication of hands-on exhibits and a kinetic work of art under the motto Science meets Art. Ball-Track Cube is the name of this 4 m x 4 m object, which was created in association with the Nuremberg metal sculptor, Hans Karl Busch. This work of art is a system of ball-tracks, which lends itself very well to explaining the mechanical energy conservation law vividly and through play. The special feature of the new ball track is its cube shape, with which it expresses the essence of the Mathematikum, and its uniqueness among German museums.
