Crystallization

In November 2009, Hüttinger was awarded the contract for the conceptual design and construction of a complex, interactive exhibit that makes crystals growth visible, but would be easy to use. After only two months’ development time Crystallization was officially opened to the public in the context of a festive reception of the Museum Association of Lower Saxony and Bremen held in the German Salt Museum.
Crytals growth and melting are visible in iridescent and bright colours due to the polarized light. A crystal specimen is already prepared under the microscope to the point that the visitors do not need to handle molten salt and object slides. The microscope, too, is already adjusted in an optimum way. Via a 17” touch screen, a hot/cold-air blower can be controlled and, thus, the crystals melted and crystallized alternately. The microscope can also be focussed and zoomed by using the touch screen.
