The overarching theme of Das Gespräch der verborgenen Dinge (lit. The Conversation of the Hidden Things) is foreignness. Yae In aims to show the things that move her and occupy her thoughts every day. Her own comic Kakerlaken served as the template for the artwork and was now brought to life. Kakerlaken shows various encounters that end with the protagonist, who is upright at the beginning, bending himself to conform to externally projected ideas. Naturalness also becomes a construct, it can be manipulated - a plant grows in the direction that is desired - not in the direction that is determined by nature. Pressed into shape and bent to conform to the ideas of others.
Following our Artist-in-Factory projects with Yanran Cao, Matthias Deeg and Theresa Hartmann, we again announced a scholarship for students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg in Fall of 2024. Our next Artist-in-Factory Yae In Kim's artwork Das Gespräch der verborgenen Dinge premiered as part of the Blaue Nacht (lit. Blue Night of Art and Culture) on May 17, 2025.
The guiding idea behind our Artist-in-Factory project is to combine art and science, to let them interact with each other. This integration of science and art is intended to address the thesis that science also has an aesthetic dimension and art also has a cognitive dimension. In recent years we have repeatedly developed projects with renowned artists such as André Heller, Jennifer Townley or Anthony Howe. We would also like to offer young, up-and-coming artists the opportunity to fully exploit their artistic potential and to realize their works with our support.
